Nearly round to elongated fruits, 18 inches long by 14 inch diameter
up to 40 pounds
slightly furrowed but smooth buff-colored rind
sweet orange high quality flesh
for canning and pies.

This is the pumpkin of choice for Libby's canned pumpkin .
What makes Dickinson so prized as pie filling? Well, it's undoubtedly flavor, flavor, and still more flavor. This is a sweet yet meaty and hearty squash, with a great deal of delicious bright orange flesh.

These pumpkins, which weigh in at up to 40 pounds, offer an outer shell of buff to tan, lightly furrowed and ranging in shape from oblong to nearly cylindrical, with a "bulb" at the base containing the seed cavity. They average about 14 inches in diameter and can stretch up to 18 inches long -- or be rounder and shorter. The long-necked fruits are especially handy for removing all the flesh neatly and quickly -- great if you're canning or freezing your harvest.

Dickinson is an heirloom variety, and it's easy to see why it has stood the test of time so brilliantly. Easy to grow and quite productive, it's a crowd pleaser and a canner's joy. Grow it as part of your Three Sisters planting, or let it ramble in a pumpkin patch. Children love these big squashes, from the smooth rind to the yummy seeds, just right for roasting. And their parents and grandparents appreciate the generous yields of delectable filling. Make Dickinson your "go to" pumpkin for unforgettable pies, soups, and casseroles!
